HOUSE OF FADO (FR)

People spend their evenings in these restaurants, called Casa de Fado ("Fado House"), dining and listening to the music, which speaks of "saudade", a Portuguese word meaning "longing, nostalgia, longing, lack of something or someone". As a rule, there is no table rotation. Once you enter the restaurant, you stay until it closes.

In its traditional form, fado is played by a trio of musicians: a guitarist playing the "Guitarra Portuguesa" (a twelve-string Portuguese guitar); a singer, or "fadista"; and a guitarist playing the "Viola de Fado" (classical guitar). The Portuguese guitar has a unique sound, and the chords are played in different meters from those of the classical guitar.

In House of Fado, players must manage their restaurant, attract customers, hire and promote fadistas and musicians, gaining prestige for their fado house. Managers will move members of their staff to different locations to perform certain actions, using the same bump action as in The Gallerist.
